ALCOHOL INKS ON VELVET GITTER by Marie Berquist
This is a brilliant technique which may be used with or without masking
Cloud Nine Velvet Glitter (microfine) [GM2000]
2 1/2" Double Sided "Tear-ific Tape" [SAT11]Â
Butterscotch Alcohol Ink
Ink Applicator With Felt
1. Add the tape to the white cardstock. Remove the protective paper and use the border punch to create a mask and place the mask down the center of the tape. Use a scrap piece of protective paper to cover and rub over the mask so it is firmly adhered. Add glitter.Â
2. Add a few drops of alcohol ink to the applicator and apply to the glitter. (Use only a little alcohol ink at a time and add more as needed to avoid making the felt too juicy, which can cause the edges of the mask to become overly damp and allow seepage underneath.)
3. Remove the mask and add more glitter to the exposed adhesive.
Here is a card using these glittery strips.
You can create gorgeous backgrounds by using several colors of ink and applying them to a larger piece of cardstock, covered with tape (or Super Adhesive Sheets [SAS02]). You will want to make the felt juicier with this technique so the ink goes farther, since you do not need to worry about a mask.
