May Your Day Bloom!

Hi there, Designer Shona here today to share with you my last December reveal card. Today I chose to work with the Rustic Flower Set 816.

So to begin with, I stamped the jug of flowers in Versamark on Kraft cardstock and then I heat embossed with Sienna. The image was colored  with Copics.

This was then die cut using the Spellbinders Style Nouille Decorative Element, which was sponged with Wild Honey Distress ink before removing the die. I then placed a piece of Super Adhesive Sheet in the center of the reddish purple textured cardstock and removed the backing, the die cut image was centered on the adhesive and then Mystical Mauve was applied to the remaining sticky areas.

I used the Nuvo Fine Tip Glue Pen to add some of the Mystical Mauve Glitter to the purple flowers in the jug.

This tied the jug in nicely with the sparkly border.

The sentiment was stamped in Versamark on Kraft cardstock and then heat embossed with Mulberry, one of the detailed Tuscany colors. This was then die cut with Spellbinders Framed Tags One and was attached with Foam Squares, with one behind the hole which was then sprinkled with the Mystical Mauve Glitter.

I made up a flower from using various Prima flower parts, embossing a little Sienna powder to the larger petals. This was attached to the card front with a copper brad in the center.

Hope you’ve enjoyed my share today.

I’ll be back in 2017!

Big hugs,

Shona

Wishing Ewe a Happy Valentine’s Day

Good morning to Ewe!

Today, I’m jumping ahead to 2017, with this fun little set from the December Reveal, Will Ewe be Mine Set 813, to wish the recipient a Happy Valentine’s Day.

I knew right away that I wanted these little lambs to be fluffy, and what better way to do that than with some fun Snow White flocking! Did you know you can color your flocking? Just dab a Copic marker using the side of the nib and the color transfers nicely on to the flocking. If you are doing larger areas – you can use a dauber. I used the marker for the inside of the little lambs’ ears.

So to begin, I stuck a piece of 2 1/2″ Tear-ific Tape to a piece of white cardstock. I took off the protective backing and added the Snow White Flocking to the sticky surface and burnished it in well with my finger tool. Once I was happy with the coverage, I stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo Black directly on top of the flocking. I then stamped the image on black cardstock in Versamark and heat embossed with White Detail.

After coloring in the lambs’ ears, I fussy cut the two white lambs on the left and right so that I could pop them up along side the little black sheep.

I covered the silver brads in Versamark and then dipped them in the Red Apple embossing powder and heat set them.

Using a Versamarker Pen, I added a little embossing ink to the inside of the black sheep’s ears and heat embossed with Petal Pink.

The white sheep were then adhered on top of the black version and I used a needle with silver thread to make the heart rope, before adding all the little hearts to the image.

Dimensional Glue was used to add the googly eyes. The red background was die cut with Lifestyle Crafts Nesting Scallop Rectangles before being embossed with the Darice Hearts embossing folder. This was then layered over the image then layered on white cardstock.

The sentiment was stamped on red cardstock in Versamark and then heat embossed  with Black Detail, this was also cut out using one of the smaller Lifestyle Crafts Rectangles. A piece of red and white gingham ribbon was attached to the back of the sentiment and this was popped up with Foam Squares at the base of the card.

The ribbon was attached to the back of the card front before being layered to the black card base to finish.

I hope “ewe’ve” enjoyed my share today!

Till next time,

Dear Santa!

Hi there, and a very Happy Thanksgiving to all,

Designer Shona here today to share my last November Reveal card using the Stella –Dear Santa Set 804. What a fun little “Stella” set for Christmas!

Dear Santa

I started with the background, using the Spellbinders Ripples Embossing Folder – I ran red cardstock through the embossing folder and then daubed Pure Platinum embellishment mouse to the piece to accentuate the pattern (which kind of reminded me of baubles).

Dear Santa

I built her wall with the Darice Brick Pattern embossing folder using watercolor paper (which had the texture already), then I daubed Cosmic Brown embellishment mousse over the bricks and “grouted” with the E25 Copic Marker.

Dear Santa

The wall was layered to the red rippled background. Santa Stella was then stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copics, R37, C3, C5, B32, E02, E25, and 0. She was then fussy cut, along with the baubles. I added some Dimensional Glue to all of the white trim around her hat, cuffs and skirt and applied Twinkling Clouds. This was set aside to dry.

Dear Santa

I applied a little Nuvo glue with the fine tip pen and then added some Blissful Blue Sparkle N Soft to Stella’s hair.

Dear Santa

Adding a little of the Nuvo Fine Tipped Glue Pen to the top of the baubles and applied Reflection Velvet Glitter. When this was dry, I covered the colored part of the baubles with Dimensional Glue and they were set aside to dry.

Dear Santa

Dimensional Glue was also applied to her glasses and the new Nuvo Ruby Slipper Glitter drops were used for a sparkly red pair of earrings. I cut a slit in the scroll, so that the scroll would go behind the wall. Stella was then attached with Foam Squares. A piece of silver thread was tied with three little bows and then the shiny baubles were stuck down with glue dots and Foam Squares.

Dear Santa

The card front was layered to a white card base, which was edged with 1/4″ Tear-ific Tape and then the sticky adhesive was covered with the new Merlot Velvet Glitter.

Dear Santa

That finished off my card for today. Hope you’ve enjoyed my share today and that you’ve had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day!

Big hugs,

Shona

Winter Birdhouse

Hi there, Designer Shona here today to share with you another card from the November Reveal. My card today uses the fun image Winter Birdhouse Stamp Set 803.

Winter Birdhouse

I decided to do a little spotlighting technique on my card. So to begin with I stamped the image twice with Memento Tuxedo Black on white cardstock and colored one of the images with Copic Markers: Y13, YR04, R17, E31, E33, E13, E35. I then used different sized punches (1″, 1 1/4″ and 1 1/2″) to cut out the three little birds from the colored image. I then applied Dimensional Glue to the “snowy” parts of the circles. Twinkling Clouds was then applied to the glue and set aside to dry.

Winter Birdhouse

On the other black and white version, I applied the new Nuvo Moonstone Glimmer Paste with a paint brush to the patches of snow.

Winter Birdhouse

This piece, when dry, was cut out to 3 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and was layered to a piece of cream cardstock which had been die cut with the Memory Box Cross Stitched Frame Borders and this was then layered to a black card base.

Winter Birdhouse

The little spotlit circles were attached with Foam Squares. The Nuvo Glitter Drops, White Blizzard and Silver Moondust were applied to the little dots around the image and Moonstone Glimmer Paste was applied to the little snowflakes.

Winter Birdhouse

That finished my card for today. Hope you’ve enjoyed your visit?!

Oh Christmas Tree!

Hi there, Designer Shona here to share with you my last card from the October Reveal. I used the Christmas Tree Tag from the Christmas Tags #1: Set 805.

Oh Christmas Tree

I started with cutting out the Spellbinders Holiday Dies set, from different scrap pieces of green cardstocks and before removing the dies I sponged Memento Bamboo Leaves ink over the pieces, which gave each of the pieces a different two-toned look.

Oh Christmas Tree

I stamped the Christmas Tree tag onto white cardstock in Versamark and heat embossed with Pear and cut out with the a Spellbinders Standard Circles die. I was aiming to give this card a monochromatic look, so each of the pieces were then daubed with Indian Gold Embellishment Mousse. I burnished extra onto the edges of the trees with my finger tool.

Oh Christmas Tree

I made my background by using the big daubers to apply a piece of white cardstock with Lemon Sorbet and Spring Green Embellishment Mousses.

Oh Christmas Tree

The background was layered to dark green before the white card base. The trees were then added overlapping one another using Tear-ific Tape and Foam Squares. The little orange star was punched from a scrap of orange cardstock which had been applied with some Moonstone Glimmer Paste.

Oh Christmas Tree

The Nuvo Crystal Drops Bottle Green were applied to the top right corner as shown.

Oh Christmas Tree

I hope you’ve enjoyed my monochromatic card today?

Be back soon,

Shona

CHRISTMAS ELEPHANT IN THE WOODS!

Hi there, Designer Shona here today to share with you another card using the October Reveal Elephant Christmas Tree Set: 802 and the new Nuvo Glimmer Paste Moonstone.

Christmas Elephant

I made my step card base using the Sizzix Balloons Step-Ups as a guide. I cut the inside panels from Super Adhesive sheets and stuck them on to the front panel and the two little steps. I repurposed the stamp by stamping the image on white cardstock in Memento Tuxedo Black and then I fussy the elephant and tree out, as I wanted him to be decorating his chosen tree out in the woods! I know elephants don’t live in the woods, but call it artistic licence!

Christmas Elephant

Our little friend was colored with Copics: YG03, YG06, YG67, Y17, R37, N2, C3, C5 and Dimensional Glue was applied to the baubles and the star, and to his hat and tail to which was added Twinkling Clouds Sparkle N Soft, for some dimensional sparkle. I die cut the trees with the Die-namites die cut Winter Forest and split it up so that it would fit on the steps of the card. The were sponged with Memento Olive Grove, Bamboo Leaves and Peanut Brittle and then once the inks were dry, I put them on a piece of left-over protective backing and applied the Moonstone Glimmer Paste with a spatula. I find that it is a very easy clean-up when you used the protective backing, none of the paste is wasted, just scoop up any paste from the sheet and put back in the jar. This was put aside to dry – though it doesn’t take very long – half an hour at most.

Christmas Elephant

I did the same process with the Memory Box Curved Merry Christmas, leaving “Merry” white.

Christmas Elephant

The Glimmer Paste makes the piece very pliable.  When this was dry I stuck a piece of 3/4″ Tear-ific Tape to the back of the “christmas” and burnished Cloud Nine to the word. The assembly of the card was next. I started with the steps, by removing the backing of the Super Adhesive Sheet scraps that I had put on the front of the steps. I then placed the two trees on the back step and then covered the remaining sticky surface with Cloud Nine Velvet Glitter. I repeated the process with the three trees and then placed the elephant on the front panel together with the Merry Christmas die. The Merry Christmas die was slightly wider than the card, so I turned it over and cut off the overlapping edges.

Christmas Elephant

Here is a closer look at the dimension achieved with the Dimensional Glue.

Christmas Elephant

Hope you’ve enjoyed my share today and that I have inspired you to look at your stamps a wee bit differently.

Hugs,

Shona

Be the Person

Hi there, Designer Shona here to share a card with you using the new reveal set 793: Puppy Girl.

Be the Person

To begin with I stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black and then colored with Copics, YR00, RV42, RV95, R21, R22, E04, E13, E33, E35. For the background I took a piece of pink cardstock and covered it with a piece of Super Adhesive Sheet. I removed the protective backing and burnished Pink Spirit Sparkle N Soft onto the sticky surface.

Be the Person

I then took Rich Cocoa and inked the raised side of the Darice Paw Print Background embossing folder, The pink, flocked piece was inserted so that the ink would transfer on to the fuzzy surface.

Be the Person

This is the result – a sparkly, fuzzy background.

Be the person

I didn’t want to cover up the majority of my background so I decided to make a frame around the image instead. I cut the background in half, then used the Spellbinders Mega Ovals Large to make an “opening” for my image. Place the die on the cutting plate, then position the background halves, so that the top and bottom corners are where the die will start cutting. I taped them to the plate, so they wouldn’t move, then I ran it through the Big Shot.

Be the Person

The pieces were then taped down on top of the image.

Be the Person

I decided to curve the sentiment along the edge of the image. Place it on the acrylic block and bend it slightly before you ink up. I used Memento Rich Cocoa to stamp with.

Be the Person

Next step was to “give a dog a bone!” In fact he got three! I had little white bone brads, so I dipped them on my Versamark pad and then with tweezers dipped them into Vintage embossing powder and heat set them. They were then added to the image.

Be the Person

Be the Person

I attached the card front to a piece of 6″ x 6″ cardstock edged with 1/4″ Tear-ific Tape. Sparkling Sands was then applied to the remaining sticky edge to finish off my card today. Not sure what that little speck is on the leash. Didn’t notice it until now, but it’s not on the card!

Be the Person

Hope you’ve enjoyed my share today,

Hugs,

Shona

Granny Witch

Hi there, Designer Shona here to share another Halloween card with you from the new reveal set 799: Call me Witch.

Granny Witch

Isn’t this little Granny a hoot? I began with stamping her on white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black and she was colored with Copics.

Granny Witch

After she was colored, I sparkled up her buckles on her shoes and hat with a Sakura Glue pen and Reflection Velvet Glitter. She got Dimensional Glue applied to the her glasses and I used the Nuvo Medium Tip Pen to add Blissfull Blue Sparkle N Soft to her hair. Orange Crush was also applied to her blouse. She was cut out with the Spellbinders Mega Ovals Large, but before I removed the die I sponged some Dandelion Memento ink around her. Then some Indian Gold and Lilac Lavender Embellishment Mousse was rubbed on to the edges of the piece with a dauber. OK, now she needs a background.

Granny Witch

I took a piece of 5 1/4″ by 4″ piece of Super Adhesive tape and stuck it down to a piece of white cardstock, then removed the protective backing and started to line up various strips of Tear-ific Tape diagonally on top. When the whole piece was covered with the strips, I straightened the edges then lined up the Velvet Glitters. Purple Rain, Tiger Orange, Celebration, Daisy, Hyacinth, Margarita and Golden Wheat were burnished in one at a time as each strips’ backing was removed.

Granny Witch

This piece was layered on to black cardstock. The sentiment was stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with Concord, one of  my favorite detailed Tuscany colors. It was cut out with a QuickKutz Speech bubble die and was sponged with Cantaloupe ink.

Granny Witch

I made my broom from a skewer and some raffia. Coloring the handle with brown Copic Marker and then taking several pieces of raffia and bending them over to make the head of the broom. Some more raffia was wrapped around the base of the head, attaching it to the skewer. I punched a hole in the witch image and used invisible thread to attach the broom head to the image. I made a “long glue dot” by taking a piece of 1/8″ Tear-ific tape and attached it to the bottom of the broom to keep it in place on the card. The witch and the sentiment were attached to the card with Foam Squares and then the Nuvo Crystal Drops: Crushed Grape, Wisteria Purple and Purple Rain Glitter Drops were randomly applied to spots on the card front to finish it off.

Granny Witch

Hope you liked my project today?

Till next time,

LEO IN INK SPLATS

Hi there, Designer Shona here today to share a couple of Sparkle N Sprinkle’s new product with you – the Nuvo Gilding Flakes (Sunkissed Copper) and the Medium Nuvo Glue Pen.

Leo the Lion

For the background I used the Dreamweaver Ink Splats stencil. I attached a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Super Adhesive sheet to a piece of white cardstock and removed the protective backing. I then applied Hawaiian Coconut soap to the stencil, before laying it down on top of the adhesive (if you don’t use the soap, you will not be able to unstick the stencil from the adhesive sheet). I poured the Sunkissed Copper Gilding Flakes on to the exposed adhesive and burnished it in using a little piece of a scrub mat.

Leo the Lion

I peeled the cardstock from the stencil and then Jasper Blue Velvet Glitter was burnished in to the remaining sticky areas.

Leo the Lion

Here is the finished background:

Leo the Lion

On to Leo! After stamping him (Leo the Lion Set 547) in Memento Espresso Truffle, I colored him with Copics: YR21, YR24 and R22. I then took the Nuvo Medium sized Glue Pen and applied the glue to his mane. Yellow Gold Glitter Tinsel was applied to the glue to give him a nice shimmery mane.

Leo the Lion

I fussy cut him out and he would be adhered to the card front later with a wobble. The Poppy Stamps happy birthday banner flags was die cut from white cardstock and I stuck them to the card front using a twisted piece of 1/4″ Tear-ific Tape.

Leo the Lion

I applied a little Rose Gold Velvet Glitter to any exposed tape.

Leo the Lion

The background was layered to a white cardstock base and Leo was attached with a wobble to finish my project.

Hope you’ve enjoyed my share today.

Till next time,

Shona

DIMENSIONAL FLOWER CART

Hi there, Designer Shona here today to share a card with you made with the new Flower Cart set 798 from the August Reveal.

Flower Cart

I decided to spotlight the flowers on the cart, so stamped the image on black cardstock with Versamark and heat embossed with White Detail.

Flower Cart

I then stamped the flower part of the cart on white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black.

Flower Cart

The flowers were colored in with Copics and then were fussy cut. Dimensional Glue was added to the yellow roses and was left to dry dimensionally clear.

Flower Cart

When the glue was dry, Orange Crush and Sunny Daze were added to the orange and yellow flowers with the Sakura Glue Pen. Black cardstock was run through Spotted Flowers embossing folder by Crafts Concepts.  I applied the Green Apple, Dandelion Yellow and Ripened Pumpkin Nuvo Crystal Drops to the little wells, as shown.

Flower Cart

When the drops were dry, I tore around the image and attached it with Foam Squares. I then centered this to a piece of white card base, edged with 1/4″ Tear-ific Tape, after removing the protective backing and burnished in Sun Dazzle Sparkle Sparkle N Soft to the exposed adhesive.

Flower Cart

The flowers were then popped up on top of the white image with Foam Squares.

Flower Cart

Depending on how you look at this card with the torn edges, it looks like the image is actually sunken in, instead of being popped up as in reality:
