Bling Your Brands - by Brenda Smalle
Jazz up those old, "plain" brads and embellishments into something unique and blingy!
(Samples Shown are cropped from the thumbnail card samples at the bottom of this page)Â
Any of our fine products are good for this technique:
Embossing Powers - with or without glitter
Glitter - Velvet Glitter - Glitter Tinsel (with Dimensional Glue or Stickum Powder)
Flocking and Sparkle N Soft (with Dimensional Glue or Stickum Powder)
Colored Embossing Powders
NOTE: Â Any color brad will work, but silver in bulk is cheap and works great! Â Bling up a plain colored brad with semi-transparent glitter or change the color altogether with an opaque glitter or embossing powder.Â
Holding the fasteners of the brad with tweezers, heat by holding close to the tip of your heat gun....just takes a minute or so. Â Have your embossing powders & glitters opened and ready to go.Â
1. Â To use glitter - dip immediately into Clear embossing powder and then immediately into glitter. Â The cooled embossing powder will keep your glitter from coming off.Â
2. Â To use a semi-transparent glitter - dip immediately into a colored embossing powder and then immediately into the semi-transparent glitter. Â The Cosmic embossing powders are great for this!Â
3. Â To emboss - dip immediately into whatever color embossing powder you'd like.Â
NOTES: Be sure to dip the top only - if you dip the stems - you'll glue them together. Embossing powders with glitter in them look great and are a little more subdued than clear embossing powder and opaque glitters.  Two different looks - one easy technique. Cosmic embossing powders give that subtle shimmer and are light and airy. Try the glitter tinsels for dimension!
You can use flocking and Sparkle N Soft flocking, but will need to work it a little bit - being careful not to burn your fingers in the molten embossing powder.
Match your brad to your embossed images, cardstocks & designer papers.  No searching around for just the right color or texture - it's right at your fingertips!
