Wiper Card by Marie Berquist

Marie Berquist - S. Carolina

Welcome to another Sunday Sharing.  This is the week for love so I have a very special card to share.  I guess I have weddings on my mind, since I am in the midst of helping my daughter plan hers.  Sparkle N Sprinkle's Today’s Wedding set was perfect for this fun Wiper Card.

To make the card base, I started out with two pieces of 5 ½” x 8 ¼” white cardstock.  I scored both at 2” and 4” and folded on the score lines to create the front and back pieces.  This creates a 4 ¼” x 5 ½” card front.  (You can create different size cards as long as the scored sections are equal width.  Many wiper cards use a 1 ½” width instead of the 2”.)

I took a 2” by 3” piece of white cardstock to create the “wiper”.  (I used green in the pictures to make it easier to see.)  Tape it to the back of the second scored section of the front base card.

Fold down so that the left side of the strip runs even with the bottom of the strip.  (Before I put the two base card pieces together, I re-attach this strip with Double Sided "Tear-ific Tape" on the bottom triangle for stronger adherence.)

Create your image or sentiment that you want to pop up and adhere it to the front of the “wiper” strip.  Trim the strip if needed, depending on the size of what you attach.  Make sure that when the card will be closed, it will fit behind the width of your card front.

Add "Tear-ific Tape" to the back of the 5½” edges of the front base card.  Line up the edges of both base pieces and adhere together.

Next you will want to decorate your card base.  Stamp and embellish all three panels of the card front, including adding layers of cardstock and/or designer paper.  For my card I used pink and dark green layers of cardstock, along with some coordinating striped and floral designer cardstock.  I added the cut out wedding dress, heat embossed withOpaline embossing powder, to the card front, along with some lovely ribbon.  I used Silver Pearl embossing powderon pink cardstock for the cake, adding a little color and some pearls.  The glitter date was hand written with a glue pen and covered with Cyclamen glitterFull details of this card can be found in the SNS gallery here.
