I’m excited about this week because we are going to California for the Winter CHA show!!  We will be demoing new stamps at the Spellbinders booth on Saturday:)  Then when we get back we can reveal the new stamp set that fits the new dies to you!!

But until then I needed a  masculine sympathy card and thought I would go for the trusted Medallion stamps for my card.  I stamped with Black Memento ink on Neenah cardstock and colored with Copics, then covered cut it out and covered it with Versamark and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder, layered it on a brown circle with dimensional tape.  For the green background I stamped the leaf with Versamark and embossed with clear again, just to give it some texture, but not overstate the medallion.  They sentiment was embossed with Teddy Brown.

To decide on my colors for my medallion I first picked out the designer paper that I wanted to use and picked my colors from that, then I don’t have to worry about having it match later.

Medallions are always popular and this month they are on sale 15% OFF.  They are very versatile and can be used for just about any kind of card….birthday, thinking of you, even sympathy.  There are many different ways to use them, you can just emboss them once as a background, or you can stamp several and cut them out and layer them like Barbara did on this one.  They look great with embossing powders.  So if you’ve never tried your hand at the medallions pick some up and play around.  Make sure to look at our gallery here for more ideas and all the details of how to make them.

Barbara has done a beautiful job mastering the Medallion stamps that we have.  She stamps them several times on different papers and embosses them.  Then the job of cutting out all the different layers!  But boy they make such a beautiful center piece to the card!  She has even put them back to back and made  hanging ornaments.  You can look at several of her cards that she has made here.

I have been having so much fun playing with the medallions lately.  I picked the Carnation Medallion for this one and I stamped on the Stardreams cardstock and embossing with Ebony Spark.  Then I cut out the different layers.  Then I added different glitters that matched each layer, Priceless Peacock, Dazzling Rose, Celestial and Fiery Fushia.
