Milton Catching Snowflakes

Milton Catching Snowflakes 787

Anne here and for toady’s post, I used the adorable Milton Catching Snowflakes stamp set.

The image is colored with Copic markers and the colors of one of his many scarves is highlighted with Purple Dust glitter. The snowflake that Milton is catching with his tongue was given extra sparkle using Sparkling Snow glitter.

Milton Catching Snowflakes1 - SNS

For the background, I started out by using one of the dies from the Tonic Studios die set (Merry Christmas – Christmas Strip die set) from green cardstock. As I wanted the strip on both sides, I had to die cut it twice, leaving a small solid piece of cardstock in the center.

Next I adhered a piece of Super Adhesive Sheet behind this green panel. I exposed the side that went up against the green cardstock and left the protective sheet on the other/back side (for the time being). Sparkling Snow glitter was then poured on top of the exposed adhesive and burnished into the adhesive with my finger tool :-). You want to make sure and firmly press the glitter into the adhesive for good coverage and to get into all of the little crevices.

Sparkling Snow is a semi-transparent glitter, so with the protective backing still on the backside, the glitter loos white. But when I removed this protective backing and adhered this panel to purple patterned cardstock, the Sparkling Snow takes on that color.

A strip of glitter/flock ribbon was added below the image. To create this, I started out with a strip of 1/2″ Tear-ific Tape and added a strip of 1/4″ Tear-ific Tape down the center of the 1/2″ strip, after removing the protective backing. I left the protective backing oMilton Catching Snowflakes2 - SNSn the 1/4″ strip of Tear-ific Tape and covered the exposed adhesive with Cloud Nine velvet glitter.

After brushing away the excess with my Glitter brush, I then removed the protective backing from the 1/4″ strip and covered it with Glistening Emeralds Sparkle N Soft flock. Be sure to burnish the flock in well with your fingertip. The combination of the velvety softness of the glitter and the softness of the flock is wonderful. You just want to run your finger over this glitter/flock ribbon over and over :-).

As a finishing touch, I added a piece of snowflake ribbon over glitter/flock ribbon.

Christmas Skates

Christmas Skates 789

Anne here with today’s post.  I created an easel card using the new Christmas Skates stamp set.  I actually used the digi version for this card and printed both the skates and the sentiment onto vellum. As soon as it came out of the printer, I added Clear embossing powder over the ink and heat set it. Then I added Silver Detail to the skate blades and heat set that as well.

Christmas Skates2 - SNS

I used Copic markers and colored the image from the back side (as my Copics don’t play very well with my embossing powders). Then I got to thinking I wanted some dimension on the front, so I added some Nuvo Crystal Drops (gloss white) to the holly berries and immediately covered them with Cerise glitter. I disChristmas Skates1 - SNScovered on past projects that if I add all the drops at the same time, they tend to blend together instead of looking like individual drops. So this time around, I added the Crystal Drops to the berries that did not touch each other. Once these were dry, I went back and added more Crystal Drops to the berries I didn’t cover the first time around. This definitely gave each berry more definition as well as lots of dimension.

For the card base, I used the Tonic Studios Ornate Frame Layering die set. (If you don’t see it on the website, be sure to leave a note to the owner and she will be happy to order it for you, if it hasn’t already been re-ordered.) This set has eleven dies, so that you can mix and match. I used the largest die to create my frame and then I added Nuvo Crystal Drops around the outside edge. When it was time to begin adhering the layers, I decided the skates on the vellum image was a little too soft, so printed the skates again onto the same patterned cardstock used for the base and fussy cut them out. I adhered the fussy cut skates to the back of the vellum image. I then dChristmas Skates3 - SNSecided to add an oval cut from white cardstock to the back of the vellum.

I used more dies from the Tonic Studios set to create the inside. I also heat set Sparkle embossing powder around the white portion of the frame for a bit of sparkle. The center oval is a Sue Wilson Designs die (Spanish Collection – Cordoba) and this is where you could write your personal note to the recipient.

Roses Squeeze Box

Roses 784

Anne here with a new post showcasing the single stemmed roses from the Roses stamp set revealed this month and the Tonic Studios Diamond Favour Squeeze Box.  The squeeze box die set has a whopping 17 dies included so that you can mix and match inserts as well as cutting edges.  When you squeeze the sides of this box, it opens up into a square so that you can fill it with some little goodies.

Rose Squeeze Box1 - SNS

I used some Super Adhesive Sheets and the kiss cut technique for each of the focal panels. After die cutting and removing the background area release paper, I covered the adhesive with Cloud Nine velvet glitter, burnishing it in with my finger tip. After removing the remaining release paper, I covered the adhesive with Sparkle N Soft flock (Glistening Emeralds) and burnished it in with my finger. These panels are so soft and smooth that you can’t help but run our fingers all over them.

For the Roses, I stamped both single stem roses that come in the stamp set, colored them with Copic markers, and then fussy cut each of them. I added a bit of Bubble Gum glitter around the edges of the petals.

The four triangular side panels were also die cut from a Super Adhesive Sheet. All were covered with Cloud Nine velvet glitter.

Rose Squeeze Box2 - SNS

On the back side, I used a different cutting edge for the center panel, but used the same kiss cut technique and products as the front panels.

The sentiment, which is part of the stamp set, was stamped with black ink and heat embossed with Clear embossing powder. I also used a Sakura glue pen to draw a fine line of glue around the edge of the die cut and added more Cloud Nine velvet glitter to give it a bit of sparkle.

This squeeze box is such a fun die cut and there are so many options for cutting it and so many ways you could embellish it. I think it would make a great treat bag or gift bag. It’s approximately 4 1/2″ tall once it’s assembled (and assembling is so easy.)

From My Garden To You

Roses 784; Roses DIGI784

Anne here with today’s blog post.  I used both the digi version and the rubber stamp version of the Roses stamp set to create this card.

I used the digi version to enlarge the blossom and stamped the rubber version on white cardstock to create my background mat.  The focal point was colored with Copic markers, fussy cut out, and then I applied Clear embossing powder, followed by Sparkle embossing powder.

Roses1 - SNS

This gives it a different look than if I only used the Sparkle embossing powder. You can see the difference between the blossom, which looks shiny with bits of glitter embedded into it versus the bottom solid card mat, which just has Sparkle embossing powder adhered to it. The blossom looks shiny and feels smooth whereas the bottom mat has more texture that you can both see and feel.

I die cut some glossy white cardstock from a Spellbinders die (Labels Twenty Eight) and then added Distress Ink (Abandoned Coral) over it. To give it a textured look, I used a sea sponge over the base coat. Nuvo Crystal Drops (Gloss White) were added to either side.

To create the patterned mat, I randomly stamped the rose image over a piece of white cardstock using Abandoned Coral Distress Ink. While the ink was still wet, I added Clear embossing powder and heat set it. Next I added color to the cardstock by applying Distress Ink (Squeezed Lemonade, Carved Pumpkin) with a blending tool.

The sentiment, which is part of the stamp set was stamped with Black Soot onto vellum and heat set with Clear embossing powder. A strip of crinkle ribbon and bow add the finishing touches to this card.

Gone Fishing

Gone Fishing - SNS

Anne here and today I want to share with you a card I created using the digi version of the new Gone Fishing stamp set.

Copics were used to created the sky and various glitters were added to give the sky highlights. Starting from the top and working my way down, I added Hyacinth, Fairy Tale Lavender, Pink Jewels, Flaming Orange, Daisy, and Hanauma Bay.

The frame around the silhouette was a Spellbinders die (Labels Twenty-Eight) and I covered it with Dark Night embossing powder. This is such a cool color as it looks different depending on which way you hold it in the light.

I also pop dotted each of my layers, with the focal point being adhered directly to the card base, then the Dark Night frame a little higher, and ending with the white mat being the highest, giving it almost a tunnel effect.

I “painted” the first black mat with Nuvo Crystal Drops (Ebony Black gloss) for a shiny effect and I also added some Nuvo Glitter Drops (Purple Rain) to the sides.

So even though this is a masculine card, it still has lots of shimmer and shine. Don’t let anyone tell you you can’t you glitter on a guy card :-).
